#MayTipOfTheDay: How long should I keep a weave in?

KekePalmer1

This can vary depending on various factors but the most important thing to remember is you need to look after your natural hair underneath as much as you look after your weave!

We recommend to leave a weave in for 4-8 weeks, However some people tend to leave in in longer, even up to 4-5 months *shock face*

The reason why we recommend this time period is because your hair is likely to grow about ½ to 1 inch underneath your weave and by the time you reach the end of the recommended time frame of wearing it, the hair growth will cause it to be looser. If you extend this time frame too much, your new hair growth may begin to mat and loc. Plus, your weave will begin to look old and less natural *covers face*

F.A.Q. What if my braids are done tighter, could I keep my weave in longer?

Some people tend to believe that if the braids underneath the weave are done tighter, it would mean they can keep their weave in longer…this is false!! Doing braids too tight can actually cause Traction Alopecia, which is hair loss caused by stress on the hair strands . Traction Alopecia is one of the most common forms of hair loss among black women. Thus, braids for weave should not be done extra tight, as this will cause a long term hair issue for the sake of a short term goal.

#MayTipOfTheDay: Removing nail polish without nail polish remover

Nail care. Cotton Swab.

That awkward moment when you have chipped nails and run out of nail polish remover!! Well you can can actually remove cracked or chipped nail polish by applying a clear top coat to the nail and removing it before it dries with a cotton ball! #ProblemSolved

#MayTipOfTheDay: Sealing the ends of your hair!

Trace_leadshot1
What is sealing process?
Sealing is a process that is usually carried out after the moisturiser, in simple terms this is when oil is used to coat the hair. The reason why it is so important to seal your hair after moisturising is because typically hair loses its moisture after a few hours due to environmental factors. Oils are used to reduce the rate of dehydration, they act as a protective barrier. Thus, the moisturiser will remain on your tresses longer.
How to seal?
After moisturising your strands, put ample amount of your selected oil in the palm of your hands and rub the oil all over your hair. REMEMBER to pay extra attention to the ends of your hair, as this is the oldest part of your hair and more prone to damage/breakage.

BEEHIVES RULE!!

Beehive/French Plait/Plait!!!

Its all about the beehives! Khaleema put this little creation together in barely any time (she’s a PRO) with lots of pins, backcombing and hairspray. Inspiration taken from an episode of my fave show The Only Way Is Essex, Maria Fowler’s date with Mick. Feel really glam right now! And my hair is an excuse to go out this evening! Love it.
