…even if you have an oily skin??

It’s easy to believe that applying anything oily to your skin will give your skin an oil overload. But, it’s actually the opposite.

Crazy Right?

But using an oil based make-up remover or an natural oil based repair serum at night will trick your skin into thinking it has produced enough oil for the day. Your skin produces oil to protect and moisturise as well as clean itself.

Extra Tip: ALWAYS moisturise! By moisturising daily, you will regulate your oil production so it doesn’t overproduce sebum. Try out different moisturisers to see what formula your skin prefers

#MayTipOfTheDay: How long should I keep a weave in?

KekePalmer1

This can vary depending on various factors but the most important thing to remember is you need to look after your natural hair underneath as much as you look after your weave!

We recommend to leave a weave in for 4-8 weeks, However some people tend to leave in in longer, even up to 4-5 months *shock face*

The reason why we recommend this time period is because your hair is likely to grow about ½ to 1 inch underneath your weave and by the time you reach the end of the recommended time frame of wearing it, the hair growth will cause it to be looser. If you extend this time frame too much, your new hair growth may begin to mat and loc. Plus, your weave will begin to look old and less natural *covers face*

F.A.Q. What if my braids are done tighter, could I keep my weave in longer?

Some people tend to believe that if the braids underneath the weave are done tighter, it would mean they can keep their weave in longer…this is false!! Doing braids too tight can actually cause Traction Alopecia, which is hair loss caused by stress on the hair strands . Traction Alopecia is one of the most common forms of hair loss among black women. Thus, braids for weave should not be done extra tight, as this will cause a long term hair issue for the sake of a short term goal.
